LOWVELD TRAILS

There is something that truly awakens the human spirit when walking out in the Wilderness - a sense of humility, curiosity, and the space to turn inward away from the distractions of daily life. Lowveld Trails curates transformative journeys into nature across South Africa and Gabon, which go far beyond a typical safari. They invite travellers to slow down, reconnect with Nature and in doing so, with themselves.

Founded by two of the continent’s most qualified guides, Wayne Te Brake and Brenden Pienaar in 2015, the Lowveld Trails team have decades of experience exploring the remotest corners of the African Wilderness on foot. Their goal is to build a net positive, regenerative business where every action revives both yourself and the wild place you are in. To be out on a Walking Safari with one of their team is a chance to explore the wild, be truly immersed in it, returning to Nature’s rhythms and the stories written in the sand and the silence.

From adventurous Primitive Trails sleeping in bedrolls under the stars and taking turns on night watch to more comfortable base-camp experiences learning how to track wildlife species through the South African bush, these unique Walking Safaris offer an adventure unlike any other. Truly intrepid souls are invited to explore Gabon’s Loango National Park on a part lodge, part Walking Safari experience, seeking out hippos who ride the surf, red river hogs, chimpanzee and lowland gorillas, ghostly forest elephants, a proliferation of birdlife and most importantly, the spirit of the Central African rainforest.
